Grooming FAQ

Beau's Pet Hotel Frequently Asked Questions

When should my puppy come in for his/her first groom?

We recommend getting your puppy used to being groomed as soon as possible after they complete 18 weeks of age. Grooming can be quite an overwhelming experience for puppies – the more they're exposed to the environment, the better acclimatised they will be!

Even if they don't require a full clip, booking them in early for wash, dry's & tidy-ups will help them ease into the grooming experience. We recommend they come in two weeks after their last set of vaccinations. During their first visit, your puppy will be introduced in a relaxed and fun way to the sights, sounds and smells of our grooming salon ensuring all visits are stress-free.

Are vaccinations required?

Yes! Your dog must have had C5 vaccination which includes Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza, and Bordetella.

How can I book my book for a grooming session?

You can make your enquiry here or by calling us 8115 6080.

How long does it take to groom my pet?

There is no rushing your dog's fur-cut here! We take our time to make sure your dog comes out not only looking (and smelling) great but feeling happy with a wagging tail.

The time taken will depend on the condition and length of your dog's fur. Our Grooming Stylist will advise you on the time you should pick up your pooch when having a chat with you about your pooch pampering session with us.

Does my dog have to be pure breed to be groomed at Beau's?

Absolutely not! We don't only cater to perfect pure breeds. We love the opportunity to bring out the style and character of those pups with a "unique" heritage.

We cater to the unique character of each and every dog, enabling us to groom young puppies to the most senior dog, as they are able to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere.

My dog is old, can she/he be groomed at Beau's?

We cater to the unique character of each and every dog, enabling us to groom young puppies to the most senior dog, as they are able to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. However aged, disabled, and ill pets may require special treatment during the pampering session.

Please let our customer service know if your pooch has a medical condition, so we can discuss with our Grooming Stylist the arrangements that we may need to be able to groom your dog.

Can I stay and watch while you groom my pet?

It is best to drop off your pooch at their scheduled appointment time, and then come back when the treatment is finished. Grooming is already a very difficult task, adding any distractions during this process is not safe for your pooch and for our Grooming Stylist. However, feel free to give us a call any time during the treatment to find out how your pooch is doing.

How often should my pet be groomed?

The length and type of your pet's coat will determine how often your pet needs to be groomed. Our Grooming Stylist will have a chat with you to recommend when you should book your pooch's next appointment.

Do I need to bring anything with my fur baby for their treatment?

We strongly recommend they have a chance to relieve themselves before coming to our facility. They may want to have a meal beforehand, but keep in mind if your pet is nervous, they might do better with an empty stomach.

At Beau's, we have indoor and outdoor yards, so your pup can run around, play and have a break from the grooming session. Reinforcing the positive, stress-free and enjoyable grooming experience to your best friend.

My dog can be aggressive when being groomed. Can I bring it to Beau's Salon?

Your dog(s) may have had a bad grooming experience elsewhere and now do not want or enjoy being groomed. Through patience, the right equipment, and time we are confident we can make the grooming experience enjoyable for all dogs. For those that are particularly traumatised, we recommend a grooming program consisting of a series of shorter treatments where bath and drying are undertaken at one session, nail clipping and ear cleaning at another, hair clipping at another, etc.

Our Grooming Stylist would be happy to discuss a treatment schedule with you if your pet requires this program. It is very rare to find an ungroomable dog, but if we encounter any serious problems during the treatment, we will discuss them with you to agree on a solution together.

What if I cannot pick my dog up from the Spa after its grooming treatment?

We offer a chargeable Daycare service in case you are unable to collect your pooch after their grooming session. Check Beau's Daycare and Day Stay price list here.

Do I need to make an appointment for my dog's nails clipping?

We are a very busy Grooming Salon, so we recommend you call and send us an email before you come in for this kind of service. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee we would be able to take this service on without an official booking.

Please keep in mind that your pooch's C5 vaccination needs to be up-to-date, even for nails clipping.

What if I am not happy with the service my dog receives?

Before your pooch appointment, our Grooming Stylist will have a chat with you to take on your requirements and preferences. Please feel free to bring a photo of the type of furcut you would like. If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with the treatment received, please advise within 2 business days so we can do our best to rectify it.

We take great pride in our grooming services and want you and your pooch to do as well.

What if I am not able to bring my dog for the grooming appointment?

You must notify Beau's Pet Hotel within 7 days of the appointment date. This will give us time to try to accommodate your pup's appointment the next day and the time available.

How much does it cost for my pet to be groomed?

Our price is based on breed, hair length and the condition of your fur baby's skin. Check our Grooming Price List here.

All profits from Beau's Pet Hotel are directed back to Guide Dogs SA/NT, so when you book your pup for Puppy School or any Beau's service, including grooming, you are helping to provide more services to South Australians living with disability.
